Getting Started FAQ's
What are
the steps to get a website up and running?
- Search for an available Domain Name Here.
Your Domain Name should include your business name or name, modified
if taken ... try to keep it as short as you can, and stick with
.com if possible. Remember, Your Domain Name is going to
be Your Unique Internet Address.
When you find it, BUY IT
- click
here
- After your Domain is Registered you need to
get a Web Hosting account. This is like a safe-deposit box for
all of your website files. Make sure that the Hosting Company
you choose has Nightly Backups, just in case something
happens you won't have to learn the hard way. Try our Free
Hosting Trial
- After you get your web Hosting account, we will
email your Login Information to give you the settings for configuring
your email, uploading files for your website, and how to access
your Web Control Panel ... ours is
called Cpanel, it's full of Features,
Tools, and Free Software ... it also has a Getting
Started Wizzard to guide you through Cpanel and
help you get started.
What's the easiest way
to create my website?
There are many ways to create a website, but here
are some ways that we offer, starting with the easiest (1) to the
hardest (in my opinion)
- Use our Online
SiteBuilder - RVSiteBuilder includes 345 pre-made
Templates so you don't have to design the site ... just answer
a few Questions, select a Category, choose the Design you like,
and Click Next ... SiteBuilder will create the website,
complete with the pages for your category, and populate them with
images and sample text in 5 minutes. You just need
to replace their text with your own, switch some images, create
some links, meta tags, etc. We have simple video Tutorials that
show you how to do it all Step-by-Step!
- Use our Website
Generator to create a simple 3 page website that is text
based & very clean for search engines to index easily. You
can upload your site and then use our HTML Editor to Add Pictures,
Add Pages, Create Links, etc.
- VIDEO
- using HTML Editor in Cpanel - we include an HTML editor
to modify pages, upload images, etc. =>
See our EZweb Package (coming
soon)
- HTML
Editor /Web Editing - we have our own set of Tutorials
for the HTML editor found in Cpanel. Note:
you may want to change your Cpanel theme to the "x"
skin, so the images and examples look the same.
- Use Soholaunch
Pro - Soholaunch uses a Drag
and Drop method for creating websites. It comes with pre-made
Templates and an easy Start-up Wizzard to get you going ... just
drag the Text Editor onto a page and you can format your text,
add pictures, create tables, links, etc. Soholaunch Pro
even has a fully integrated Shopping Cart, so you can sell online.
Note: You'll have to contact
us to create a Pro License for you to add the Premium
Features ... hosting with us will Save
you $99 - since 2serveU.net is a
Licensed Soholaunch Partner you're license is FREE (as
long as you are hosted with us).
- Tutorials
for Soholaunch - we have 35 Video Tutorials for Soholaunch.
You only need the first 9 to cover the basic features - #10-18
are all about eCommerce, and the rest are for the other
Premium Features.
- Support
Forum - there's a community of Soholaunch users here!
- Use Microsofts's FrontPage - this was
very popular, but no longer supported by Microsoft ... not sure
why they discontinued it. We have a page with all the best links
and our Video Tutorials to help you get the most out of FrontPage.
- Use Dreamweaver - this is the HTML Editor of
choice for most webmasters. It's not cheap and it takes a while
to get used to it, but if you are serious about being a web designer
you should at least take a look at it. I use it all the time,
but I must admit that RVSiteBuilder is still a lot easier, and
it's FREE!
- Dreamweaver
Tutorials - located inside our DemoCenter - I included
a link to our 1st Tutorial .... click the "show"
link in upper left corner when done to see the other tutorials
located inside our DemoCenter. enjoy
- CMS Programs
- short for Content Management Services. These include Drupal,
Geeklog,
Joomla!,
Mambo, PHp-Nuke,
PHPWCMS,
PHPWebSite,
PostNuke,
Typo3, SiteFrame,
Xoops, and more that can all
be installed with just 1 click using our autoinstaller Fantastico!
The reason I put these down as the hardest way to create a website
is they can be complicated to edit, or to change the design, etc.
But if you just wanted to create a Forum for your hobby, the easiest
way would be to install one of our Discussion Boards ... such
as phpBB2
- we have 50 programs to
choose from inside of Fantastico, and more inside of Cpanel (such
as e107)
that all install with just 1 click!
